Language Arts at East High School is not a one-size-fits-all program.  The curriculum is often individualized toward students' abilities and interests while incorporating state standards and content to help students succeed.  Much of the curriculum concentrates on critical thinking, real-world activities, comprehension, writing and analyzing text.

The Social Science department offers credits for all four of the required years of history in the FUHSD district: Geography, World History, US History, Government, and Economics. Within these courses there is much opportunity for individualized student learning needs to be met, including field trips and local history centered assignments.
